The first e-learning platform known as Khan Academy appeared in 2006 providing an array of videos on many subjects and giving teachers the opportunity to provide direct instruction to students 24/7 from their own website.

This platform gained popularity very quickly and since then hundreds of educational platforms appeared on the market offering a wide range of digital tools for enhancing the learning process and helping both teachers and students with their tasks.

Another technology that had a seismic impact on e-learning was the iPad released by Apple in 2010. Actually, iPad revolutionized computing by using touch access to share information and since then digital learning has become accessible even for very young children who no longer need keyboard access and facility with the alphabet.
